A few points in response to this conversation...
Is OSXFuse reliable for reading/writing EXT3 drives? I was using the
Paragon EXT driver but found it unreliable with USB3 drives. In fact it
was horrible, it kept locking up the entire file system (including
Mac-formatted drives) and causing drives to eject randomly. After this
experience, I switched to keeping a dedicated Linux box to load up EXT3
drives.
Digital Cinema Tools isn't easy to install on OS X. I tried and failed
on Mavericks. Someone has posted a method to install dcp_inspect on
Yosemite, but I've not tried it:

Since dcp_inspect appears to be no longer maintained, I'm considering
porting it to Node/Javascript which would run on any OS. But would be a
bit of a job to do - anyone got an interest in lending a hand with that?
In the meantime, my solution has been to install it on a Ubuntu VM
inside Virtualbox which works fine. There's a few gotchas when trying to
operate dcp_inspect over SSH - if anyone's having trouble with this,
feel free to email me.
What's wrong with ExFAT? At least in theory it looked like a solution to
copying files between different operating systems.

- If you are unable to format external drive / USB-flash to ext2/3 or
ntfs, try fat32. Forget about exFat, burn it. If DCP is bigger than
4Gb and no chance to use ext2/3 or ntfs, you should create multi-reel
DCP. My advice: set reel size 3Gb, because the DOM does not create
reel-file exactly x Gb, real size is approximate and may be smaller or
bigger. Then you can copy this multi-reel DCP to fat32-drive with no
problem.
- Use stable-version of DOM.

BINARY in his FTP client, I will let you know what happens.
Could you please share with me the _best practice_ to deliver a
DCP exporting it with DCP-o-matic in a Mac Environment?
- install OSXFuse and format the external drive as EXT3?
- do you suggest a specific brand of external hard drive or a
specific way to protect it during the international shipment?
- test the exported DCP with dcp_inspect before shipping? How can
I install dcp_inspect or it's graphical GUI in Mac?
- other stuff to consider?

or hash value in DCP XML is a bad idea unless you REALLY know
what you're doing. The hash value is there to ensure content
has been transmitted without errors. If you change it, you may
end up with a corrupt DCP cunningly disguised as a valid one,

Carsten mentioned ZIP files and their ability to ensure data
integrity. It is true that the ZIP standard includes a
checksum on each file in the ZIP, and so when you open a zip

gotcha: ZIP files bigger than 4GB use an extension to the
standard called ZIP64 to deal with the large files. The
in-built "Archive Utility" on OS X however doesn't implement
ZIP64 properly, and produces non-standard ZIP files. As I
understand it, their implementation doesn't include
checksumming. So, you can't trust that ZIP files created on a
Mac (or perhaps expanded on a Mac) have their data integrity
intact.
Just mentioning this, as it has bit me in the arse a couple of
times...

is inconrrect (should be [expected size])". In this case,

to re-download file :) I edit PKL manually by printing
correct size in bytes of file on which I got error. To
look size of file you need open properties of file, on
which you got error message. Looking on size, I presume
it is CPL

Hello Lilian,
we have a short history (and know-how) of DCP
creation, in total we have had 4 screening in
4 different cinemas with the same DCP export
and all went fine.
We then modified the source file of the movie
for some post-production adjustments and
re-exported it and got this error, then we
shortened the source file to just 30 second
(to send some short test to the cinema over
FTP) and tried to tune some parameters of
dcp-o-matic and got the same error every time.
Do you know a way to manually fix the CPL
hash and size?

had the following error while
ingesting a DCP on a Doremi server:
File size 8735 is incorrect (should
be 8659)
Any ideas how to solve it?
