I started overthreading at 18, then back to 12, the
default configuration.
Now I'm testing with dcpomatic 1.69.00, available around the dates
that computer worked properly the last time. 1100% !! something has
changed in the last versions.
In that case, it must be something very machine specific. I did a lot of testing on all
recent test versions and did not notice such an extreme (roughly a factor of 10-12!)
slowdown.
I just ran the bunny benchmark on my standard OS X 10.6.8 machine using 4 threads, and
even get slightly better performance than with earlier versions (1.76.42:16min33s vs.
1.69:18min23s).
Maybe a memory/swap issue? Can you start up activity monitor and look for unusual high CPU
and/or memory loading? Maybe a weird issue with network rendering?
