I agree on that. The mentioned section is from a complex that deals with the introduction
of CPL Metadata - in the future, the Metadata will be used by systems to automate things,
while the DCNC CPL naming will be used by systems not yet supporting Metadata.
So I think that it is wise to keep the CPL naming where it currently is (already complex
enough), and focus on CPL Metadata for all automated readout.
Adding NULL would really make these things completely unreadable.
