Hi
i would rate all the open source PC players i know as not usable for
production screening at the moment. There were big steps done in the
last years but it's still a lot to do.
Even if you get an unencrypted DCP make sure that the license you have
with the distributor allows you to convert it to ProRes/h264/h265
MP4/mob/mkv. Better ask them if they can supply you with a BluRay most
distributors offer these for none DCP cinemas.
The best, if not cheap, solution might be a commercial software Player
like neoDCP oder easyDCP Player.

neoDCP Player is a bit cheaper (min 700€ forthe software with public
screening allowed) and if i remember correctly the hardware req are also
not so demanding. My last time testing these players is 1-2 years
old, so the following might be out of date. The easyDCP player needed two
mid to high range nvidia cards one fore displaying and one for decoding
while neoDCP did the decoding using the CPU only.

Hi Peter,
Another solution might be for you to use DCP-o-matic to convert the DCP to
a ProRes or MP4 for playback.
Although you should check if the DCP will be encrypted: if so, things
might get a little more complicated.
All the best,
Carl

Hi Carl,
Apologies for the multiple messages over different platforms! Seeing how I can get hold
of you.
I have a small venue in Squamish, BC. We have a movie being shipped from a distribution
company - Free Solo. It is a DCP.
I am trying to work out how I can play it!? Can you help? Happy to contribute to your
project.
Thanks,
Peter
