I might have misinterpreted your end goal, but just to clarify - packing
a full feature film in multiple reels won't be unusual :)
That is actually how most feature films are created today. I have seen
only a few single reel Hollywood titles (e.g. the digitally remastered 'Top
Gun').
I know. That's why *I* misinterpreted the warning from the
(non-technical) festival employee as "your DCPs aren't multi-reel". The
DCPs in question are only half an hour long, though that's slightly longer
than the standard reel length.
What I meant by the above (and what the festival technician was warning
about) was that it would be unusual (and problematic) to package a movie in
several *DCPs** *(not *reels*!). There the transitional points would most
certainly be problematic.
I hope I clarified what I meant now - as you see, the difference between
packages and reels can cause confusion on many levels. ;-)
