1) Yes, indeed; I wrote to Carl that I indeed found that 14.29 Plays back correctly.
Confirming!
2) I can’t tell how the gatekeeper responds anymore. I turned it off ages ago and somehow
my life still goes on.

That's a known bug in recent 2.15.x versions. Player 2.14.29 seems to be fine.
@Carl - all 2.14.29 apps open without the longish gatekeeper test - is this a result of
notarization? Though I am still on Sierra, without notarization? All I get is the usual
'This app has been downloaded from the internet - do you still want to open it'
warning. Then the app opens immediately. I just recently installed 2.14.26 and 2.15.42,
and both showed the long gatekeeper check.
