Could it be you are trying to open your source movie using the 'Add DCP' dialog of DCP-o-matic ?

That's wrong, you first have to name and create a new project, then add your content to it with the topmost Add

been trying to convert out film into DCP but every time I do it keeps telling me no assetmap?
