Hi Jim,
usually, hard disc writes are verified by the disc and/or operating system by reading back
and CRC. I feel it is very unusual to have discs fail the way you describe it. If that
would happen even with 'some' statistical relevance, worldwide IT would have a bad
time. Think of OS or swap-drive failing.
