Hmm, I guess Carl should clarify this for us then. The forum post I was referring to was

Maybe Carl didn't want to express that re-using an existing MXF without recoding is
impossible with current versions, but just that it doesn't work properly under all
conditions.
E.g. it could be a problem if you try to re-use a SMPTE MXF within a new Interop package
(I know Carl is working on this particular issue already).
