Hello,
I might sound weird but I really think there's no need to change anything about
thoses buttons dealing with images sequence, or slide, or files, as it will probably add
confusion.
Well, certainly 'Add File(s)' is completely okay. But 'Add directory' is
actually confusing now - as you have proved yourself in your previous post. It just could
be clearer on the difference between the two.
Of course, one could simply improve the documentation on that, but I still think the
'add directory' button should be renamed.
Again, the issue with DCP-o-matic is - should we help/encourage people creating DCPs who
do not bother reading the documentation first? ;-)
Then of course, documentation is very often a weak point in open software projects, and
the docs for DCP-o-matic are no exception. I wish there would be an easy way to work on
the documentation collaboratively in all relevant languages. The guys who contacted me
about the problems with single image sequences were not good in understanding english
anyway, and as long as there is no documentation in other languages, we should keep the
localized GUI as descriptive as possible. Aside from RTFM issues - there is no point in a
GUI being unnecessary cryptic ;-)
And I guess Carl is not really strict about that button name staying the way it is now. At
the time he implemented it, there was probably no real cause to think about a different
name. I am nearly sure we'll find it renamed in one of the next versions anyway. Then
it's up to the 'localizers' ;-)
Carl - not tyring (;-) to make this issue more complicated, but taking up your
suggestions, when I choose to import an image sequence in Quicktime Pro Player, I get
this:
