And it's not only for the player, it it happens with all 5 dcp-o-matic applications.
But it's only a one time issue.
Yeah, if you download new test versions frequently, it might become a bit more annoying,
but, it's caused by the code signing and verification that was introduced lately. The
good thing, you do no longer need to confirm incoming connections for dcp-o-matic main
application, batch converter and encode server. That will save you many clicks in the long
run.

I've used it before and not had this issue. I just re-installed and same issue.
Hmm.
Did you try to close and re-open it immediately after it finally opened for the first
time?
Did you notice there is a readme in the DMG?
