Hi folks,
Is it normal when making a 5.1 DCP that upon playback, all the center channels and dialog
can be heard in the left ear (stereo headphones) and I only hear ambience tracks in the
right? I don’t remember this being the case in the past but its pretty consistent. I
have other way to monitor the DCP after its created other than using Quvis’s DCP player.
You have to define 'normal' and 'playback' ;-)
'Normal playback' for a DCP is in a cinema through a properly installed projection
and audio system. If you don't have/do that, it is not normal.
When playing multitrack audio on a standard computer system, you always need to make
sure/configure proper channel routing. This will hardly be correct for your needs without
tweaking, but is system specific.
'All the center channels' - there should only be ONE center channel ;-)
There are a couple of players/demo versions out there to check this. Doremi cineplayer
e.g. has a multichannel VU meter and channel mapping.
