Interesting... you can set that up in the "Timing" tab after import.
Maybe it's better to have a dialogue like that so that the user is
forced to think about it...
Yes, also, this is a nice way to add some more options other that settings in preferences
and adjusting it later. And I think a chooser like this doesn't really add complexity,
you make a quick selection after understanding what it's for, and your done.
Of course, we're entering shallow waters once we start to think about which moving
image frame rates we should offer there - 'real world' input frame rates, e.g.
also 23,98 (if external audio is referenced to that), or allow more options when
'allow non standard frame rates' is checked in 'advanced prefs'...
My suggestion is - allow any real world frame rate there - 23.98, 24, 25,29.97, 30, 48,
50, 59.97, 60 - then let people decide what to do with them as is now with either choosing
a manual or Auto DCP frame rate.
Maybe add an asterisk or ('preferred') to 24 so people get a quick glance about
their best option.
This will allow to import separate audio with it as well and apply the proper resampling
if needed, when the audio is referenced to the input frame rate and 48.000kHz.
Then only some very few useful still image rates, like 5s/frame, 10s/frame, 20s/frame or
so, as these can always be adjusted later, and people will usually add few images for this
application anyway, so individual or collective adjustments can be done very fast
afterwards.
