Yes, PNG is part of the spec. It's used when very special characters are needed, very
'graphic' layouts, colours, etc.
Uhmmm interesting. And a viable quick and dirty solution indeed.
I'm not planning to use the original DVD subtitles, but to add my own srt file.
Also, most subtitles for released dvds are easily available in srt
anyways, so an srt based solution will be really interesting.
Right now I use dvdomatic for coding, bellenuit or michaelcinquin for
the subtitles file, and opendcp for warping again (and unnecessarily
redoing the hashes). All of this with not so good results.
