Hi all.
At work we had 6 Intel NUC's that won't be used until sometime next
year, so I thought they might be able to boost encoding performance a
bit for my daily DoM usage.
Having done benchmarking before with older hardware, I thought it
would be nice to try the brand new DoM version with these rather new
NUC's which isn't at all top of the line as they are i3 :)
These are the results:
DCP-o-Matic 2.6.3 benchmarking
Host:
DoM 2.6.3 64bit
i7-2600 @3400GHz
8GB ram
Win7 Enterprise
6x Network nodes:
----------------
Intel NUC 5i3RYK
i3-5010U @ 2.1GHz Dual core (4 threads each)
4gb Ram
DoM 2.6.3 64bit Live Server (on USB2 stick)
Host and nodes connected via gigabit LAN through a Cisco SG-200-08 switch.
Big Buck Bunny
---------------
host only: 02:34 (5,3fps avg)
6nodes_only: 01:02 (13,3fps avg)
host+6nodes: 00:48 (17,1fps avg)
Very nice speedups in my opinion... I am currently running benchmark
on the Sintel movie.
I'll post those results when done :)
PS. I've sent Carl the log files, so the network might end up on the
bechmark site.
Best regards,
Jonathan
Hi all,
I've put up version 2.6.3 as the new "stable" DCP-o-matic release as it
fixes three moderately nasty problems that were in 2.6.0:
Crash on uploading DCPs to a TMS using FTP.
Crash on starting the server GUI on some systems.
Ironically broken "send problem report" option.

I keep receiving this error message, even when the destination file system is 64G.
I really need these files in DCP format. I've tried different file types, saved to different hard drives and flash drives and even tried this on two different computers.
Can you please help me?

Hi,
Having two MKV files each containing audio, video and subtitles... Would
it possible using DoM to make a DCP containing audio and video track
from the first MKV and the subtitle track from the other?
I have tried to use the Timeline functionality (DoM 2.5.0) but when I
try to remove the tracks not needed (audio and video from the second
MKV) all tracks of that MKV is removed.
Is this a bug, or am I doing it the wrong way?
Cheers,
Christian

Hi Christian,
That is either a bug or a missing feature, depending on your point of view
;)
A workaround might be:
1. Add the "subtitle" mkv.
2. Add the "audio/video" mkv.
3. Open the timeline and drag the audio/video mkv so it starts at time 0
(as the subtitle one does).
4. Make sure "use subtitles" is ticked for the "subtitle" mkv and not for
the "audio/video" one.
I'm not sure if this will work but I think it should.
Cheers,
Carl

Greetings.
I know it's possible to define how many threads to use when using the
CLI version of the server daemon, but I can't seem to find the same
setting in the GUI version of the Encoding Server.
Is it possible to define number of threads to use in the GUI version?
DoM 2.5.0
Windows 32bit/64bit
Thanks :)

Jonathan

Hi Carl,
Last evening I ran my film through your program without error.
I shall now study some finer niceties of various settings and hope to
review the results in a theater next week.
Thank you for your good work,
Bruce

Hello again,
I did not see "async_read," just "read" - right here in my notes.
I am running it again and am past the point where the error popped up
yesterday. Now 2 h 18 min to go.
Thank you,
Bruce

Hi Bruce,
Thank you. Could your error have been
error during async_read (89)
?
Thanks,
Carl
